Tamko Heritage Roof Replacement in The Heights, Houston TX
Before & After

What the Homeowner Wanted
The owners of this 1920s Heights bungalow had spent years carefully restoring the interior and exterior. The roof needed to match that level of care.
They wanted something with more presence that would anchor the home's curb appeal without looking too modern. They were also concerned about the front porch section, which has a very low slope and had leaked in the past.
Our Solution
We recommended Tamko Heritage in Rustic Black — a clean, classic black that's been used on homes since the shingle era began.
The scope included:
- Careful tear-off preserving the original 1x6 wood plank decking (still solid after 100 years)
- Full synthetic underlayment over the main roof sections
- Tamko Heritage shingles on all standard-slope areas
- Modified bitumen membrane on the low-slope front porch section
- Period-appropriate round ridge vent
The original wood decking was a pleasant surprise — we preserved it and added synthetic felt for moisture protection.
"We've dealt with contractors who treat old houses like problems to be solved. Simple Roofing treated ours like something worth preserving."
